Keyword you choose to optimize is very important because the chances of your website getting higher page rank in search engines such as Google and Yahoo depends upon it.
You should not choose highly competitve keywords such as weight loss, fitness, news, dating, etc... as your keyword. If you do searching for "dating" you will find more than million websites competiting each other for that keyword.
Therefore, if you begin to optimize for that keyword then the chances of your website getting optimized in search engines are very less. So, its better to optimize for less competitive keywords at the beginning. After you begin to get traffic from search engines for that keyword, you can optimize for more competitve keyword.

After you download, select keyword suggestions tool, and type any competitive keyword say, dating. You will find a list of keywords related to dating, with the total numer of searches next to it. Choose a less competitive keyword which have around 1000 searches per month. Begin to optimize your website for that keyword. Add a heading which contains that keyword. Add H1 and H2 tag relevant to that keyword. And at the end of the page, mention that keyword along with copyright tag.
MAKE SURE YOU MENTION THE KEYWORDS IN NATURAL SENTENCE. Yes, it is very important, as the search engine may think you are trying to spam them.
